Ramapithicus - misinterpreted evidence?

The question here concerns the misinterpretation of an ancient creature that was thought to be within the line the human ancestry.  More recent research has indentifed that Ramapithicus was an ancestor of the Orang-u-tan, that marvellous, highly intelligent Man of the Forest who lives now only in Indonesia.
