Synoptic paper essay revision & guidance
- Marks in the essay will include those for use of good, sound scientific content, structure, and balance of the essay and quality of written communication.
- Relevant diagrams are greatly encouraged – this adds to the scientific content and balance of the essay
- Bring in as much knowledge and understanding from other areas of Human Biology i.e., from across the course – this also adds to the balance of the essay
- Practice: your grammar, spelling and punctuation; continuous prose to develop continuity for a mature essay structure to produce an essay introduction (not waffle), middle, end and summary that has little or no repetition
You will either need to or should:
Produce an essay plan at the start
Ask yourself :
- “How will I start the essay?”
- “What do I want to get over to the examiner?”
- “What technical terms do I need to use?”
- “What is this topic all about ? – I’d better jot down words, phrases, terminology”
